Les Dames of Cullman Presents
October 20, 2024 // 2PM - 5PM
Warehouse District - Cullman, AL
1 in 4 middle and high school young women in Cullman County live in poverty making it difficult to acquire simple necessities like feminine hygiene products, pads, tampons, panty liners, new underwear in case of accidents, body and face wash, deodorant and other items that most of us would deem essential.
The rate of young girls experiencing their periods without proper preparation or education is on the rise. The reaction to this is hyper embarrassment and many young women across the nation miss up to 20% of the school year due to not having essential products during their periods. This causes truancy at minimum and hopelessness within the next generation of women—affecting their confidence and body health.
The average student who has a period uses 300 feminine products per year.
For every woman who signs up a young women in Cullman will have the feminine hygiene products she needs for the whole year! Your donation of $50 per Witch offers you a Sunday afternoon filled with Family Friendly FUN- live music by Avenue G, adult and kids “Witches Brews”, bouncy house, food trucks and a chance to parade around with your girl friends dressed as witches throwing candy to our kids and husbands and families! What could be more fun?
Expect that you and every woman who likes to have fun we can get our hands on to be there with you dressed as a Witch!!! We encourage you to get a group of 4-8 women together and dress as a theme- if you Google “witches ride” I assure you will find plenty of inspiration!!! The BEST PART: for every woman who registers we will be able to supply a young women within the Cullman County school systems with the feminine hygiene products she needs for the entire 2024-2025 school year!!! By signing up your GENEROSITY will give a local young Les Dame (lady) the dignity of having what she needs that time of month.
We believe we can solve this problem by creating feminine resource closets in every school in Cullman County. We believe the least of these deserve the very BEST we can offer—this means building a bridge to meet the needs of those we know do not have essentials.
We believe a rough average of $70 per student is needed to fund this effort—the amount necessary to build a bridge between what they have and what they need as it relates to feminine hygiene products.
We estimate there are approximately 1,987 young women this school year who will have feminine hygiene needs that will not be met. (*2020 census)
An estimated 1,987 young women in need throughout the course of a year at $50 per young woman puts our goal just under $100,000. We can do this. Especially with all you Witches.
